New Reno

Description

Before the outbreak of nuclear war, the city of Reno was considered one of the centers of the gambling business in the United States, second only to Las Vegas.

During the nuclear war of 2077, the city was practically not affected by the falling bombs (apparently due to its low strategic importance), which made it possible to avoid large destruction. It is not known whether any Refuge Company "[[Volt-Tech"] was located in or around the city, but certain smaller temporary shelters built by local contractors were commissioned by the City Hall.

Despite the fact that a large part of the population managed to survive the nuclear bombing, soon after the end of the war the city was plunged into the abyss of anarchy and street wars between armed groups. The situation was aggravated by the difficult humanitarian situation - the shortage of food, the lack of any medical care, the uncontrolled drug trafficking.

At the time of the events of the game in New Reno, although some entertainment establishments (casinos, clubs, hotels) began to gradually revive, the city is still controlled by criminal gangs (ranging from large criminal bosses to street gangs). Drug trafficking and prostitution are flourishing.

City areas

Silver Legacy Hotel (district)

The safest area of the city. The main place here is the Silver Legacy Hotel and the adjacent restaurant belonging to Mr. Mordino (apparently, the founder of the Mordino family from Fallout 2). Near the hotel is a parking caravan, who, apparently, are the main visitors to the hotel and restaurant. In the caravan parking lot, Tuko, the local representative of the company Nevada Express, is also on duty. Next to the parking there is a local store building.

Eldorado Casino

The most populated area of New Reno. The main object here is the club casino "Eldorado", owned by one of the crime bosses of New Reno - Mr. Bertolini. Of the smaller institutions can be called a strip club (located in the same building as the "Eldorado"), a boxing ring (in the basement of "Eldorado") and a small cafe called "Cotton". Also across the street from the casino "Eldorado" is the house of Mr. Wright - the owner of the local slums.

Evacuation bunker (district)

City Square, in the area of which is located the entrance to the underground bunker, used to evacuate the citizens of New Reno during a nuclear war. At the time of the game events, the bunker is already abandoned and for the most part looted, except for the command center located behind the closed code door, which houses operating radio equipment. Located next to the square, the building serves as the headquarters for the gang Stryker, one of Reno’s criminal bosses. Stryker does not lose hope of opening the door to the command center of the evacuation bunker, and therefore keeps the key of the bunker with you, agreeing to give it only to someone who will pay good money in favor of his movement.

Town Hall

The former city mayor’s office, under which there is a small shelter, apparently intended to rescue the mayor’s office in case of a nuclear war. The town hall is controlled by a gang of Tommigana, one of Reno’s criminal bosses, whose goal is to restore sustainable power in the city led by the mayor.

Railroad station

Abandoned railway station Reno, which has become home to a solitary life of a local [[[mechanics]]].

Luciano Ranch

Located next to the city of the ranch Oliver Lucciano is truly one of the few examples of successful farming development in the post-nuclear world. On the ranch there are both pens for brahmins and plantations for crops. The main labor force of the ranch are slaves from the wastelands. To protect the possessions of Luciano on the ranch there is a rather large armed guard.

Until recently, the ranch has developed quite successfully, fully providing Lucciano and his entourage with necessary products, as well as allowing them to engage in trade with caravan operators. However, recent droughts and crop failures have forced the rancher to gradually engage in the struggle for spheres of influence in New Reno.

Notes

Although the city "migrated" to the project from Fallout 2, here it is represented by completely different areas, which were not in the original.
Almost all areas of the city are based on the real city of Reno in Nevada. In particular, the Silver Legacy Hotel, the Eldorado Casino and the bowling club exist in reality.
